Within many horror movie's, you often see on screen the antagonist appearing in the background. Althought on screen the characters are unaware of the presence of the antagonist, we as viewers witness the antagonist doing nothing or approaching the protagonist's or soon to be victims. Also it is not uncommon that the antagonist then disappears of screen, leaving the viewers questioned and on edge to where the antagonist has gone although on screen characters are completly unaware. Soon after the disapearance, the antagonist tends to re-appear but with a scare, usually instant cuts and loud non-diagetic sound is introduced to scare the viewers.
